Contemporary Acting

In this part of the two-part project (alongside Classical Acting) participants will be involved in creating a performance in response to the play ‘Hedda Gabler’ by Henrik Ibsen. The work will culminate in a showcase to be held in The Concert Room at Scarborough Library on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th April 2019. Methods of working will include storytelling, devising, physical theatre, autobiography and documentary performance and the material generated will cover some of the play’s key themes such as power and influence; secrets; emancipation unattained; mental wellbeing and duty and responsibility. The focus will be on examining ‘Hedda Gabler’ in relation to issues still current in the 21st Century and generating a performance response around those issues.
