Sand Space

Classical Acting

Do you like Ibsen, Wilde or Chekhov? Or do you prefer Restoration Comedy, Shakespeare or brooding Greek Drama?

Sand Space ‘Classical Acting’ is a brand new Beach Hut Theatre Company performance class that focuses on developing acting skills via the exploration of well-known play-texts from the past. Come along and polish your voice and movement skills whilst also bringing to life some of the greats from western drama and beyond.

Exercises include fun games, lively discussion, solo and group work and investigation into playwrights’ intentions (in both a historical and newly reworked up-to-date context). All work in class will build ultimately to a performance showcase.

This term we will dip into a different text and style every session. All sessions run between 7.00 p.m. and 10.00 p.m. on a Thursday evening and take place in the Arts Room at Scarborough Library, running fortnightly on the following dates:
